At least three animal rescue organizations are currently running ads on American TV; indeed, the ads are repeatedly broadcast throughout the day (seemingly every hour at times). In almost all cases, emphasis is placed on donating money to feed the abused animals.
While these ads surely trigger sympathy for the suffering victims, little mention is made of the humans responsible for the abuse. Raising funds to prosecute those individuals and organizations would seem to be a more effective approach.
Preventing animal abuse should be the primary goal of these campaigns. Rescuing animals that are suffering and dying may then become unnecessary.
